Clergy Brooklyn features a diverse vibrant array of faith communities. The Clergy Committee of BUILD will support outreach and access to Brooklyn residents. The Clergy Committee of BUILD will research, develop and propose initiatives, projects and policy the promote the capacity of faith-based organizations to support the development of local communities and Brooklyn at large.

Propose community specific and Brooklyn wide projects, initiatives, strategies and policy to promote equitable and consistent growth. This committee will anticipate and address threats to the preservation of the diversity of Brooklyn residents. The development process must engage and include residents, not exclude and displace them.

Education Human capital is our most precious resource and the foundation of all development efforts. The Education Committee of BUILD will research, develop and propose projects, initiatives, policy and approaches that promote learning opportunities supportive of the empowerment of Brooklyn youth and adults. The Education Committee of BUILD will establish goals and objectives for the development and attainment of educational opportunities critical to cultivating the intelligence, talent and capacity of Brooklynites to build, enhance and sustain diverse vibrant communities.

The Entertainment Committee of BUILD will also identify opportunities for Brooklyn youth and adults to cultivate talents (sports, music, comedy, etc) as well as foster career opportunities in entertainment. |

Environment The Environment Committee of BUILD endeavors to safeguard and continuously improve the environment of Brooklyn neighborhoods. The committee will research, propose and support the implementation of strategies, initiatives and projects that promotes a safe, healthy and pleasant environment for all Brooklyn residents. Parks and green space (landscape), air quality, lighting, layout and atmosphere are among the environmental aspects to be addressed within the scope of this committee.

Housing / Relocation Housing in general and low-income housing opportunities are becoming increasingly scarce in Brooklyn. The Housing & Relocation Committee of BUILD seeks to ensure that at private and government levels the need for housing in general and low-income housing in particular is addressed. Moreover, this committee seeks to ensure that residents displaced as a result of eminent domain in the development process are duly accommodated; particularly important is ensuring the individuals who want to continue to reside in the community have a reasonable opportunity to do so. The Housing & Relocation Committee of BUILD will research, develop and propose policies, strategies and approaches that offer existing community residents equitable opportunities to benefit from rather than be excluded from the development process.

Merchant The Merchant Committee of BUILD will research, develop and propose projects, initiatives, strategies and policy support the local Merchants, Merchant Associations, Merchant relations as well as success in local communities. Undercaptialization is a major challenge for many small local community businesses. The Merchant Committee of BUILD will ensure that at both the private and government levels development project provide opportunities for existing small local business to benefit from versus being closed down, excluded or reluctantly displaced by the development process.
Outreach / Organizing The Outreach and Organizing Committee of BUILD will develop and implement ongoing strategies and initiatives to engage community residents and stakeholders in the development process on all fronts: private developers and all levels of government. This committee will generate an organizational strategy to ensure that all segments of the community are aware of and have the opportunity to partake in and benefit from the local and borough-wide development process.

Sanitation The Sanitation Committee of BUILD
Seniors The Senior Committee of BUILD will research, develop and propose projects, initiatives, strategies and policy that promote positive and safe opportunities for Brooklyn seniors to share and continue to cultivate their talents, skills and wisdom throughout the local community. The Senior Committee also seeks to ensure that the planning, design and implementation of local development project assess and seek to engage the senior population in a manner that is sensitive to their needs. As individuals continue to live longer it is critical that development projects respect, create and articulate opportunities, services and supports for this segment of the community.
Technology The Technology Committee of BUILD endeavors to develop and enhance the technological infrastructure of local communities, promote resident access to and use of technology as well as cultivate the capacity of local residents and stakeholders to use and apply technology. This committee will research, develop and propose projects, initiatives, strategies and policy that facilitates the ability of local stakeholders to effectively utilize and apply modern technology.
Transportation The Transportation Committee of BUILD will research, develop and propose policies, strategies and approaches that promote optimal transportation conditions for pedestrians, drivers and public transportation commuters. The committee will safeguard quality of life needs and concerns of residents in the development process with respect to transportation issues. Infrastructure capacity, layout, signage, visibility, movement, air quality and universal accessibility are among the issues this committee will continually examine in connection to transportation.

Youth / Children’s Zone Youth are the future stewards of Brooklyn and the larger global community.
